Pat Delany, Steve Hetzel will join Magic’s coaching staff

Pat Delany and Steve Hetzel, who worked on the Charlotte Hornets’ coaching staff under Steve Clifford, will join Clifford’s Orlando Magic coaching staff, the Orlando Sentinel has learned.

Delany and Hetzel each worked for the Hornets for four seasons, beginning in 2014.

Delany previously was the head coach of the NBA’s Development League’s Sioux Falls Skyforce for one season. Before that, he worked for the Miami Heat for 11 seasons — one season as a video intern, four seasons as video coordinator and six seasons as an advance scout. He played four seasons at Saint Anselm College, finishing his playing career as the school’s all-time leader in assists.

Hetzel was the head coach of the D-League’s Canton Charge before he joined Clifford’s coaching staff in Charlotte. Before his D-League coaching stint, Hetzel worked four seasons as a player development coach for the Detroit Pistons, three seasons as video coordinator for the Cleveland Cavaliers and one season as an assistant video coordinator for the San Antonio Spurs. As a student at Michigan State, Hetzel worked as a student-manager for the Spartans’ men’s basketball team.
