Magic will hire Tyrone Corbin as an assistant coach

The Orlando Magic will add former NBA head coach and former NBA player Tyrone Corbin to their coaching staff, league sources told the Orlando Sentinel.

Corbin, 55, worked as a Phoenix Suns assistant coach the last two seasons.

His résumé also features two NBA head-coaching stints: with the Utah Jazz from 2011-2014 and with the Sacramento Kings as the Kings’ interim coach for 28 games during the 2014-15 season. The Jazz posted winning records in two of Corbin’s three full seasons as coach and also reached the playoffs once.

Corbin played for nine teams over 16 NBA seasons and averaged 9.2 points, 4.7 rebounds and 1.8 assists per game.

Steve Clifford’s Magic coaching staff — in alphabetical order — also includes Mike Batiste, Pat Delany, Steve Hetzel and Bruce Kreutzer.

Batiste, Delany, Hetzel and Kreutzer worked with Clifford in Charlotte.
