Canton’s Jordi Fernandez Named NBA Development League Coach Of The Month

NEW YORK, March 2, 2016 – Canton Charge head coach Jordi Fernandez has been named the NBA Development League Coach of the Month for games played in February.

Fernandez led Canton to a 10-0 record as the Charge moved to 24-13 on the season, good for second in the Central Division. Canton trails the Sioux Falls, which has the second best record in league history through 37 games, by only five games. The Charge is currently tied for the sixth longest winning streak in league history with 12 consecutive wins. Canton limited opponents to 98.8 ppg and 30.5 percent shooting from behind the arc.

Fernandez, a native of Spain, is in his second seasons as head coach for Canton. In his first season, he guided Canton to a franchise record 31 wins and a trip to the Eastern Conference Finals. He was originally hired by the Cleveland Cavaliers before the 2009-10 seasons as a player development coach.

Other coaches receiving consideration for the monthly award were Bakersfield’s Chris Jent, Los Angeles’ Casey Owens, Maine’s Scott Morrison, Rio Grande Valley’s’ Matt Brase, Reno’s Dave Arseneault Jr., and Sioux Falls’ Dan Craig.
